At Mom’s Basement Theatre, we believe the stage should be a place to grow, play, and shine. Whether you’re brand new to improv or a seasoned performer looking for your next challenge, we offer multiple pathways to get involved, sharpen your skills, and perform regularly.

How It Works

1. Explore the Opportunities

2. Submit an Interest Form

Click the interest form for the opportunity that excites you. Tell us a little about your experience, availability, and what you’re hoping to get out of performing at MBT.

3. We’ll Reach Out!

A member of our staff will contact you to:

Confirm you meet any prerequisites
Answer questions
Review expectations and scheduling
Make sure it’s the right fit on both sides

We want you set up for success — not just thrown on stage.

4. Get Scheduled & Perform

Once everything is confirmed, you’ll be added to the roster and receive show details. Then all that’s left to do is show up, warm up, and have a blast performing!

IMPROV

Improv is the heart of Mom’s Basement Theatre. From competitive short form to bold long form experiments, our stage is built for improvisers who want to play, grow, and perform regularly. Whether you have a full team or just a strong duo dynamic, these shows give you a chance to sharpen your skills, connect with audiences, and be part of our creative community.

Short Form

Whisky Mixer

A winner-take-all short form battle featuring four teams in a mini ladder bracket, culminating in a final step-out game to determine the ultimate champion of the night.

Performs the 1st Friday of the month at 7:30pm

Long Form

7 Minutes in Heaven

A fast-paced 3v3 improv showdown where four teams compete in seven-minute sets, audience voting each round to crown the hottest team of the month in this high-energy montage competition.

PB&J: A Duo Improv Show

A one-hour long form showcase featuring dynamic two-person teams performing tight 10-minute sets, plus a shared ensemble finale that brings the whole cast together.

An open-format team showcase where two groups perform 15-minute sets and a headliner closes with 20, highlighting bold choices, big swings, and every improv style.

STAND UP

Stand-up at Mom’s Basement Theatre is bold, personal, and just the right amount of unhinged. From tightly crafted sets to interactive comedy experiments, our stand-up opportunities give comics a chance to develop material, connect with audiences, and own the room. Whether you’re refining five strong minutes or headlining with a full feature set, there’s a mic — and a crowd — waiting for you here.

The Rant

Comedians compete to turn harmless annoyances into must-hate causes through sharp monologues and crowd voting.

Performs the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7pm

Improv Olé

A one-hour showcase where a stand-up comedian’s 10-minute set inspires a long form team to create fully improvised 20-minute montage performances.
